Curious what Jade Rollers are all about? Alicia Keys uses it on her skin to maintain a glowing makeup-free complexion, and top models Behati Prinsloo and Miranda Kerr regularly get holistic facials incorporating the tool.
They may seem like a newfangled facial tool, but the Chinese has long revered jade for its translucent colors and durability, regarding it as a stone of immortality and a symbol of beauty and grace. An integral part of Chinese beauty routines from as early as the 12th century, the jade roller has the ability to draw out negative qi (energy), increase blood circulation, reduce puffiness and diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Here’s how you can make the most of your jade roller in 4 easy steps:
- Cleanse your face thoroughly to remove all traces of makeup and dab gently with a towel.
- Apply your serum or moisturizer- we love the One Love Organics range at Shop Conscious Beauty! My personal favorite is the Vitamin C serum, a potent formula with organic green tea and Vitamin E which will plump and enliven your complexion with just a single pump and perfect under make-up.
- Start rolling on one side of your face, repeating each movement 4-6 times and then move on to the other side. Use the larger side for your face and neck and the smaller side for the delicate areas around your eyes- always move your roller upwards and outwards. Watch your face slowly flush!
Tip: Mist your face throughout the process to plump your skin cells and increase penetration of your serum/moisturizer.
- Wash your roller with warm soapy water and allow to it dry completely before putting it in a cool, dry place. Never use hot water or harsh chemicals and cleaning agents as it will erode the finish and polish on the roller.
And you’re done with your at-home facial treatment- do this 3-4 times or as often as you like!
P/S: Jade is naturally cool to the skin, but you can also store the roller in the refrigerator a few hours before usage if you want an extra boost of firming and de-puffing.
Now that you know what Jade Rollers are, you can incorporate this tool into your beauty ritual here.
