Hyperpigmentation is the appearance of dark or splotchy areas on the skin, here’s some natural ways to keep itunder control!

This can be caused from a number of factors such as sun exposure, hormones, and certain conditions.  How to get rid of hyperpigmentation naturally?  There are several natural remedies that our founder Chelly has found useful for minimizing the appearance of hyperpigmentation:

  • Milk & Honey – Because of the lactic acid in the milk and the curative nature of honey
  • Vegetable Juices – Extracts of cucumber, tomato, and potato specifically
  • Avocados – A terrific source of Vitamin E
  • Almonds – Obviously almonds can’t be applied directly, but you can soak them overnight and make a paste
  • Mint – Has soothing and curative properties as well
  • Baking Soda – An excellent exfoliator
  • And the every-present list of multi-use and multi-benefit skin treats: Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, Cocoa Butter, Olive Oil

We all love to indulge in a weekly or bi-weekly face mask.

There are a number of recipes available online specifically designed for reducing hyperpigmentation.  A few key ingredients to look for are oatmeal, honey, sandalwood, or citrus peel.  Here are just a couple to get you started.

Honey & Papaya

1. Blend two tablespoons of honey and half a cup of mashed ripe papaya
2. Apply to desired area(s) and leave on for fifteen minutes
3. Rinse thoroughly and moisturize

Milk, Honey, & Lemon

1. Thoroughly mix in equal parts – milk powder, honey and lemon juice
2. Apply to desired area(s) and leave on for ten minutes
3. Rinse thoroughly and moisturize

Now some of the causes for hyperpigmentation cannot be avoided, but the primary cause – sun exposure – is easily minimized through daily use of sunscreen. Here are some good options for natural face sunscreens because THE BEST cure is good prevention!
